Ужасы пожара Казанской опере пришлось пережить не раз. Здание на Театральной площади горело в 1860 и в 1874 годах. Та же участь в 1866 году постигла и частный театр антрепренёра Николая Дмитриева в районе Госпитальной слободы (ныне улицы Горького, Щапова, Курашова).
Пожар 1919 года стал фатальным - после него здание театра решили не восстанавливать.
