'course you didn't and I definitely didn't ask just for fun.
Projects are an inherent part of my courses as they are a really good chance to do the following:
1️⃣ Have the students use the target language in a relatively natural way.
2️⃣ Have them practice their research skills which are vital for any person nowadays.
3️⃣ As a follow-up from the previous point, allow your students to practice their critical thinking skills (they need to find relevant sources of information, don't they?).
4️⃣ Let them find out some new information and share their newfound knowledge with others.
A lot of benefits, really. Sounds like a dream come true (well, to me). Why doesn't everybody do them then?
I cannot claim to be the leading expert on projects, but I can share how I organize such work. Shall I?

A Russian Telegram channel with over 700,000 followers is spreading disinformation about Russia's invasion of Ukraine under the guise of providing "objective information" and fact-checking fake news. Its influence extends beyond the platform, with major Russian publications, government officials, and journalists citing the page's posts. In 2014, Pavel Durov fled the country after allies of the Kremlin took control of the social networking site most know just as VK. Russia's intelligence agency had asked Durov to turn over the data of anti-Kremlin protesters. Durov refused to do so. Ukrainian forces have since put up a strong resistance to the Russian troops amid the war that has left hundreds of Ukrainian civilians, including children, dead, according to the United Nations. Ukrainian and international officials have accused Russia of targeting civilian populations with shelling and bombardments. Telegram was founded in 2013 by two Russian brothers, Nikolai and Pavel Durov. Telegram has become more interventionist over time, and has steadily increased its efforts to shut down these accounts. But this has also meant that the company has also engaged with lawmakers more generally, although it maintains that it doesn’t do so willingly. For instance, in September 2021, Telegram reportedly blocked a chat bot in support of (Putin critic) Alexei Navalny during Russia’s most recent parliamentary elections. Pavel Durov was quoted at the time saying that the company was obliged to follow a “legitimate” law of the land. He added that as Apple and Google both follow the law, to violate it would give both platforms a reason to boot the messenger from its stores.
