Как сообщают армянские СМИ, богослужение проводит лишенный католикосом сана иерей Арам [Степан] Асатрян, а возле храма толпятся десятки граждан, среди них и многочисленные полицейские.
Собравшиеся во дворе и внутри храма встретили Пашиняна аплодисментами.
Ранее Пашинян заявил:
"Повестка дня освобождения Первопрестольного Святого Эчмиадзина давно назрела.
Сегодняшняя литургия в Ованнаванке символизирует начало практического этапа освобождения нашей святой святыни".
