Единственного губернатора от СРЗП Олега Николаева, который будет баллотироваться на выборах в качестве самовыдвиженца, поддержит не только «Единая Россия», но и КПРФ. По данным «Ъ», коммунисты не собираются бороться за пост главы республики, поскольку разделяют позиции действующего главы региона. Об этом изданию сообщил источник из партии.
В 2020 году Олег Николаев также баллотировался в качестве самовыдвиженца, а «Единая Россия» не выставляла против него своего кандидата. КПРФ в тех выборах выдвинула первого секретаря чувашского рескома Александра Андреева. В результате Николаев победил с 75,6% голосов избирателей, коммунист набрал 10,3%.
