Егорлыкская ГЭС работает в пиковых режимах. Гидроагрегаты включают в работу в утренние и вечерние часы, восполняя дефицит мощности в то время, когда нагрузка на энергосистему максимальна. Расчетный напор в 28 м на гидроагрегатах создается при помощи земляной плотины высотой 33 м.
