In 2018, Russia banned Telegram although it reversed the prohibition two years later. The SC urges the public to refer to the SC’s I nvestor Alert List before investing. Members of the public who suspect that they have been approached by unauthorised firms or individuals offering schemes that promise unrealistic returns These entities are reportedly operating nine Telegram channels with more than five million subscribers to whom they were making recommendations on selected listed scrips. Such recommendations induced the investors to deal in the said scrips, thereby creating artificial volume and price rise. So, uh, whenever I hear about Telegram, it’s always in relation to something bad. What gives? But because group chats and the channel features are not end-to-end encrypted, Galperin said user privacy is potentially under threat.
