Обнажения выделяются на фоне крутых покрытых лесом склонов речной долины и придают ландшафту вид скалисто-гористого. В обнажениях виден и доступен для изучения разрез тарусского и веневского горизонтов нижнего карбона, сложенный органогенными известняками с остатками фауны и флоры. Рядом расположен вход в пещеру, ведущую к Венёвскому женскому монастырю. Сама пещера – лишь для опытных спелеологов. До этого места от Москвы можно доехать за 2-2,5 часа, используя трассы «Дон» и «Крым», затратив примерно 180-200 км.
