Права на творения нобелевского лауреата получили его сыновья, Родриго и Гонсало. Они пошли против воли отца, но сами выступили продюсерами. Требования жесткие: съёмки проходят исключительно в Колумбии, на испанском языке, с испаноговорящими актерами, сценарий следует тексту романа без отклонений. Режиссёр (режиссерка) фильма - Лаура Мора Ортега (Колумбия).

Я была в Аракатаке - прообразе Макондо - городе, где Маркес провел свое детство. Домик - оттуда, про дом-музей Маркеса напишу.
