Министерство обороны Болгарии сообщило, что 2 апреля на 3-ю авиабазу ВВС Болгарии Граф Игнатьево прибыл из США первый истребитель Lockheed Martin F-16 Block 70 (F-16V), из 16 заказанных Болгарией. Им стал двухместный истребитель F-16D Block 70 (cерийный номер MW-01, номер ВВС США 20-6001, болгарский бортовой номер "301"), официально переданный Болгарии 31 января. Официальная церемония ввода его в состав ВВС Болгарии в Граф Игнатьево запланирована на 12 апреля. В 2019 и 2022 гг. Болгария подписала межправительственные соглашения с США о приобретении по линии американской программы межправительственных зарубежных военных продаж Foreign Military Sales (FMS) 16 истребителей F-16V Block 70 (10 одноместных F-16C и шести двухместных F-16D) общей стоимостью около 2,4 млрд долл.
