Хотя некоторые хищники остаются зимовать в Татарстане, луни к таковым не относятся. А полевой лунь - самый холодостойкий из наших луней. Обычно он улетает на юг позже, а возвращается раньше, чем остальные. В Татарстане полевой лунь появляется, как правило, в первой половине апреля. Но в этом году в связи с ранней весной все сроки сместились недели на две-три.

Вот и эту самку полевого луня я встретил 25 марта недалеко от устья реки Мёша. Она летала над полем, лениво уворачиваясь от нахального грача, а иногда сама демонстрировала нападение.

На полях, особенно на южных склонах снег частично сошёл, и луни уже могут охотиться на грызунов, высматривая их в прошлогодней траве.
