Прикольно, наткнулся в английской википедии на статью Rusalka. Подумал, что как это так, Русалка это же Mermaid по-английски. Оказалось, что Мёрмэйд это Морская дева и ее только в последнее время начали путать с русалкой. А русалка это такой чисто славянский мифический персонаж. С двумя ногами, между прочим.
Сразу вспомнился Пушкин и стало понятно как у него русалка на дерево забралась.
