Apparently upbeat developments in Russia's discussions with Ukraine helped at least temporarily send investors back into risk assets. Putin added that discussions were happening "almost on a daily basis." As the war in Ukraine rages, the messaging app Telegram has emerged as the go-to place for unfiltered live war updates for both Ukrainian refugees and increasingly isolated Russians alike. "The result is on this photo: fiery 'greetings' to the invaders," the Security Service of Ukraine wrote alongside a photo showing several military vehicles among plumes of black smoke. Stocks dropped on Friday afternoon, as gains made earlier in the day on hopes for diplomatic progress between Russia and Ukraine turned to losses. Technology stocks were hit particularly hard by higher bond yields. Since its launch in 2013, Telegram has grown from a simple messaging app to a broadcast network.
