"شناخت ایران در جمهوری ونیز اثر جورجيو روتا . این مقاله به روابط تجاری و دیپلماتیک میان ونیز و ایران، به‌ویژه در دوره صفوی، می‌پردازد و نقش بازرگانان ونیزی به‌عنوان منبع اطلاعاتی در مورد ایران را بررسی می‌کند. روتا با استفاده از منابع آرشیوی ونیز و سایر منابع، شبکه‌های تجاری و اطلاعاتی میان دو کشور را تشریح کرده و به نقش آگاهانه‌ی بازرگانان در انتقال اطلاعات به نخبگان سیاسی ونیز اشاره دارد. همچنین، مقاله به چگونگی شکل‌گیری تصور ونیزی‌ها از ایران و فرهنگ آن در طول تاریخ می‌پردازد. در نهایت، به اهمیت زبان فارسی در میان دیپلمات‌ها و مترجمین ونیزی و نقش آن در شناخت زبان ترکی عثمانی نیز اشاره می‌شود.
