Несколько дней назад в 100-летнем возрасте ушла из жизни Мария Филипповна Лиманская. В 18 лет она ушла на фронт, сначала шила одежду солдатам, потом стала регулировщицей. Туда набирали именно женщин, так как мужчины были нужны на полях сражений. Боевое крещение Марии Филипповны прошло под Батайском Ростовской области. Под вражеским огнём она регулировала движение войск на переправе через Дон. Участвовала в Сталинградской битве, освобождении Симферополя, Белоруссии и Польши, дошла до Берлина.

Именно там в мае 1945 года военный корреспондент Евгений Халдей сделал знаменитое фото, на котором молодая девушка у Бранденбургских ворот направляет проезжающие автомобили.
