Ранее власти Санду пытались ограничить оппозицию различными методами: обыски, аресты и препятствия на участках, особенно за рубежом и в Приднестровье. В день выборов из 270 тыс. приднестровских избирателей проголосовать смогли лишь около 12 тыс. человек.
Оппозиция обещает активно противостоять власти и отстаивать права граждан.
