Известно, что в 1953 г. по распоряжению Берии в Москву привезли арестованного лидера литовского подполья ("лесных братьев") Жямайтиса. Рассказывают, что Берия лично встречался с Жямайтисом и даже предлагал ему пост зампреда Совета министров Литовской ССР по национальным вопросам (то есть по коренизации). У меня имеется архивный документ, позволяющий точно установить, когда Берия встречался с Жямайтисом. 25 июня, встреча продолжалась меньше часа. На следующий день, 26 июня, Берия был арестован.
