Чукотский Новый год называется Пэгытти, «пестрое скопление». Наступает он в ночь с 21 на 22 декабря — в зимнее солнцестояние. Название «Пэгытти» связано с восхождением одноименной ритуальной звезды, известной в современной астрономии как Альтаир.
Во время праздника люди поют и танцуют в яркой одежде вокруг костра. Встречать Пэгытти нужно обязательно с хорошими мыслями, тогда и весь следующий год принесет только радость.
Кстати, кроме чукчей, Новый год в день зимнего солнцестояния отмечают нанайцы и коряки на Дальнем Востоке.

Pavel Durov even said that users should delete WhatsApp “unless you are cool with all of your photos and messages becoming public one day.” But Telegram can’t be described as a more-secure version of WhatsApp. On Feb. 27, however, he admitted from his Russian-language account that "Telegram channels are increasingly becoming a source of unverified information related to Ukrainian events."
