قد تواتَرَتِ الأحاديثُ والآثار في فضل الصلاة على النبي ﷺ عامة، وصحت في مواضع خاصة: فتُشرع كسائرِ الذكرِ لغيرِ سبَبٍ؛ لما في (صحيح مسلم) من حديث أبي هريرة؛ قال ﷺ: «مَنْ صَلى عَلَيَّ وَاحِدَةً، صَلى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ بِهَا عَشْرًا».
وهي من أعظَمِ أسبابِ مكفراتِ الذنوبِ وجِلَاءِ الهمومِ؛ ففي (المسند) من حديث أبي طلحة رضي الله عنه؛ قال: قال رسول الله ﷺ: «مَنْ صَلَّى عَلَيَّ واحدةً، صَلى اللهُ عَلَيْه عَشْرَ صَلَوَاتْ، وحَطَّ عَنْهُ عَشْرَ خَطِيئَاتْ، ورَفَعَ لَهُ عَشْرَ دَرَجَاتْ».
وتُشرَعُ عند أسبابٍ، وآكدها: في الصلاةِ عند التشهد، وعند ذكر النبي ﷺ، وبعدَ الأذانِ، وفي صلاةِ الجنازةِ، وعند الهَمِّ والحاجات، وفي مجالِسِ الذِّكْرِ عامةً، وعند الدعاءِ، وكان بعضُ الصحابةِ يَختِمُ قُنُوتَهُ بالصلاةِ على النبي ﷺ، ورُوِيَ فيه مرفوعاتٌ يومَ الجمعةِ ولَيْلَتَها.
