فابتلاه الله بقرحة عجز عنها الأطباء حتى ترك علاجها، فسمع يوما صوت طبيب من الطرقيين ينادي في الدرب فقال هاتوه حتى ينظر في أمري فقالوا ما تصنع بطُرقيّ وقد عجز عنك الأطباء الحذّاق فقال لا بد لي منه، فلما أحضروه ورأى القرحة استدعى بخنفسة فضحك الحاضرون فتذكر العليل القول الذي سبق منه فقال أحضروا ما طلب فإن الرجل على بصيرة، فأحرقها وذرّ رمادها على قرحته فبرئ بإذن الله تعالى، فقال للحاضرين إن الله أراد أن يعرفني أن أخس المخلوقات أعز الأدوية.
