بسیاری از گروه‌های مدافع حقوق زنان افغانستان نیز این روز را در این کشور و بویژه خارج از آن گرامی داشته‌اند. رزا اوتونبایوا نماینده دبیرکل سازمان ملل برای افغانستان نیز به مناسبت همین روز دراظهاراتی گفت که «ما در یک نقطه بحرانی برای زنان و دختران افغانستان قرار داریم. نیاز به اقدام فوری برای عدالت داریم تا خشونت علیه زنان و دختران در افغانستان پایان یابد.»
فعالان حقوق زنان می‌گویند که زنان درافغانستان در سه سال گذشته و با روی کار آمدن حاکمیت طالبان با انواع خشونت روبرو هستند.
