از انجا که همه چشمه ها خشک شده اند، زنده بودن تالاب مهارلو، و چنین چشم انداز هایی تنها وابسته به سیلابی است که هنگام رخداد بارندگی از بالادست شیراز به ویژه تنگ سرخ به سوی آن جریان می یابد.
شوربختانه گروهی که شوربختانه تر تصمیم گیر هم هستند، می خواهند با ساخت سد و یا آب بند در تنگ سرخ، مهارلو را از آن محروم کنند. آنگونه که هم فکران آنها ارومیه، بختگان، طشک و ... را خشک کردند.
اگر این سازه ساخته شود، دیگر فلامینگویی به مهارلو نمی آید و همه ما مجبوریم برای دیدن این چشم انداز، فقط به فیلم و عکس نگاه کنیم و یا داستان آن را از زبان دیگران بشنویم.
