Картина стала одним из лидеров американского кинопроката 1956 года, заняв 3-е место по сборам, и взяла двух Медведей (Серебряного и Бронзового) на Берлинском кинофестивале.

Берт Ланкастер до начала кинокарьеры был цирковым акробатом и многие трюки (кроме самых опасных) выполнил сам.
