ليس الشفيع الذي يأتيك مؤتزرا ... مثل الشفيع الذي يأتيك عريانا
وذلك أن النوار بنت أعين وكلت الفرذدق لقرابته منها، ليزوجها فلما حضر الشهود، وأشهدتهم على ذلك، قال اشهدوا أني قد تزوجتها على مائة ناقة. فكرهته وأبت أن تمضي ذلك وشخصت إلى ابن الزبير تستعديه عليه، ورحل هو خلفها إلى ابن الزبير فاتى حمزة بن عبد الله بن الزبير يستشفع به إلى أبيه، وقال فيه:
أمسيت قد نزلت بحمزة حاجتي ... إن المنوه باسمه الموثوق
وأتت النوار ابنة منظور بن زبان، امرأة حمزة بن عبد الله بن الزبير تستشفع، فكلم حمزة أباه في الفرزدق وكلمته امرأته في النوار. فقضى للنوار، ولم يجز للفرزدق تزويجه. قال الفرزدق:
أما بنوه فلم تنجح شفاعتهم ... وشفعت بنت منظور بن زبانا
ليس الشفيع الذي يأتيك مؤتزرا ... مثل الشفيع الذي يأتيك عريانا
فضربه الناس مثلا في أن شفاعة النساء أنفذ من شفاعة الرجال.
