تامس نیگل (۱۹۳۷ – کنون)، فیلسوف آمریکایی، چالشی مهم را مقابلِ دیدگاه‌های فیزیکالیستیِ آگاهی، مطرح کرده است.
به‌نظر نیگل، آگاهی، فاعل‌محور است. برای آنکه یک تجربه‌ی آگاهانه را بفهمیم باید در حال‌و‌هوای فاعل قرار بگیریم (اگر خفاش نباشیم چه‌طور می‌خواهیم بدانیم خفاش‌بودن چه حال‌و‌هوایی دارد؟). در مقابل، علوم فیزیکی عینیت‌محورند. بین حالت فاعل‌محور و حالت عینیت‌محور پُلی پُرنشدنی موجود است.

To lend credence and to lure unsuspecting victims, perpetrators usually claim that their entity and/or the investment schemes are approved by financial authorities. One thing that Telegram now offers to all users is the ability to “disappear” messages or set remote deletion deadlines. That enables users to have much more control over how long people can access what you’re sending them. Given that Russian law enforcement officials are reportedly (via Insider) stopping people in the street and demanding to read their text messages, this could be vital to protect individuals from reprisals. In view of this, the regulator has cautioned investors not to rely on such investment tips / advice received through social media platforms. It has also said investors should exercise utmost caution while taking investment decisions while dealing in the securities market. The regulator said it had received information that messages containing stock tips and other investment advice with respect to selected listed companies are being widely circulated through websites and social media platforms such as Telegram, Facebook, WhatsApp and Instagram.
