С середины 1930-х играла в московских театрах, среди которых Центральный театр Красной Армии и театр им. Моссовета. В 1934 году дебютировала в кино в фильме Михаила Ромма "Пышка". Запомнилась зрителям благодаря колким, метким высказываниям и ярким ролям в картинах: "Подкидыш", "Мечта", "Свадьба", "Весна", "Золушка" и многих других.
