رادیوم تا پایان تمدن قبلی که در سال ۱۸۳۰ پایان یافت، حتی در روشنایی نیز کاربرد همگانی داشت و در بازار به فروش می‌رسید.

هنوز معلوم نیست که چرا رادیوم را از دست‌رس مردمان خارج ساختند. یعنی معلوم نیست که آیا رادیوم دارای تشعشعات اتمی خطرناک و زیان‌بار بود یا نه؛ زیرا استفاده از آن در مدتی طولانی و از سوی عوام در قرون گذشته می‌تواند حاکی از آن باشد که پرتو رادیوم با دیگر عناصر رادیواکتیو تفاوت داشته است.

سرب نیز یک عنصر سنگین است اما هنوز با تدابیر و مراعات به‌کار می‌رود و فقط از برخی صنایع و محصولات (هم‌چون صنعت چاپ) حذف شده است.

However, the AFP, citing a Pentagon official, said the U.S. hasn’t yet seen evidence that Belarusian troops are in Ukraine.
