Изначально лента была номинирована в категории «лучший исторический фильм», но жюри, отметив, образовательную ценность проекта для европейского зрителя, не знакомого с историей Узбекистана приняло решение наградить «Мечтателей» в категории Best Educational Film.
На церемонии присутствовали кинематографисты из 19 стран: Франции, США, Индии, Великобритании, Мексики, Бельгии, Испании, Коста-Рики, Германии, AP и других. Узбекистан стал единственной страной в Центральной Азии, представленной на фестивале.
