این حیطه ها به نظر مربوط به علوم کامپیوتر و ریاضیات هستند ولی دو برنده جایزه نوبل فیزیک امسال با استفاده از مفاهیم فیزیکی موفق به بنا نهادن اصول اولیه آنها شدند
سیستم عصبی انسان از شبکه ای در هم تنیده از سلول‌های عصبی تشکیل شده است که هنگام یادگیری بعضی از ارتباطات آن تقویت و بعضی تضعیف می‌شود. شبکه عصبی و هوش مصنوعی نیز از همین خاصیت استفاده می‌کند (تصویر اول)
در سال ۱۹۸۲ جان هاپفیلد با استفاده از روشی موسوم به شبکه هاپفیلد موفق شد الگویی برای درک حافظه انسانی ارائه دهد (تصویر دوم). با روش او اطلاعات ناکامل یا دارای نویز به صورت درست تشخیص داده می‌شوند به شرط آموزش شبکه عصبی.
جفری هینتون با استفاده از شبکه هاپفیلد و کمک فیزیک آماری در سال ۱۹۸۵ موفق شد شبکه عصبی با قابلیت آموزش تحت عنوان "ماشین بولتزمن" ابداع کند! (تصویر سوم)

امسال هر دوی این دانشمندان موفق به دریافت جایزه نوبل فیزیک شدند.

The perpetrators use various names to carry out the investment scams.
