In den letzten Jahren hat sich als Reaktion auf die gesellschaftlichen Verwerfungen eine alternative Kulturindustrie herausgebildet. Zu ihren institutionellen Ausprägungen gehört der NuoVision Songcontest, der dem Mainstream-Event ESC auch dieses Mal Konkurrenz macht – ohne vorgegebene Political Correctness, dafür aber mit sozialkritischen Beiträgen.
Anders als beim ESC steht hier die Authentizität im Vordergrund. Auf schrille Farben und gekünstelte Gesten wird verzichtet. Stattdessen geht es um echte Emotionen und eine ausgewogene Unterhaltung, die nicht moralisierend oder wahnhaft politisierend wirkt. Die Auswahl der Teilnehmer erfolgt nicht nach ideologischen Gesichtspunkten. Die Macher setzen eher auf Talent und Publikumswirkung. Die Show soll die Herzen erreichen und in ihrer Grundausrichtung unangepasst sein.
