شرح واقعه : «سیّد» مهدی بلیغ، در دهه‌ی سی، کاخ وزرات دادگستری را به‌عنوان هتل (!) به دو تاجر آمریکایی فروخت و به باهوش‌ترین کلاه‌بردار در ایران معروف شد.
او پس از فریفتن تاجران آمریکایی، وزیر دادگستری وقت را تطمیع ساخت و کاخ را ساعتی اجاره کرد. سپس تعداد ۲۰۰ جفت دمپایی خرید و آن‌ها را مقابل اتاق‌های ساختمان اداری چید تا آن‌جا به هتل شباهت پیدا کند. آن‌گاه تاجرهای آمریکایی را به بازدید از کاخ بُرد و از آنان مبلغ ۵۰۰ هزار تومان پیش‌پرداخت گرفت و بلافاصله به مصر فرار کرد.
