Des Weiteren verhindert L-Carnosin die beschriebene Glykaüon und kann damit diabetischer Nephropathie, diabetischer Neuropathie und Schädigungen des Auges vorbeugen. Die Einnahme von L-Carnosin in der Schwangerschaft erhöht darüber hinaus die Glucosetoleranz des Kindes und senkt damit das Risiko für Diabetes beim Kind.
