Для одиноких туристок путешествие может оказаться небезопасным, поэтому портал о путешествиях EnjoyTravel составил рейтинг стран, куда женщина может безопасно съездить без попутчиков.
При составлении рейтинга учитывались восемь критериев: расходы на борьбу с преступностью и обеспечение безопасности; доля женщин, перенесших насилие; число убитых женщин; законодательство о насилии в семьях; удельный вес женщин, чувствующих себя безопасно на улице ночью; отношение к насилию над женщинами; безопасность в общественном транспорте и такси.
В первую тройку рейтинга вошли Оман, Тайвань и Словения. В двадцатке оказались все три страны Балтии - Латвия на 19-м месте, Эстония на 15-м, а Литва на 13-м.
Составители рейтинга отметили, что 32% латвийских женщин сталкивались с какими-то формами насилия, но Латвия все равно вошла в двадцатку, потому что более половины женщин вне дома чувствуют себя безопасно, в том числе и ночью.
