همانطور که در اپیزود صفرِ «مجموعۀ ایران پایدار» گفتیم، این مجموعه سه زیرمجموعۀ اصلی به نام‌های روایت ایران، تاریخ ایران و جغرافیای ایران دارد. در «مجموعۀ تاریخ ایران» قرار است بر اساس کتاب‌های تاریخی مرجع، شناخت خود را از تاریخِ ایران افزایش داده و به یکی از پرسش‌های چهارگانۀ مجموعۀ ایرانِ پایدار یعنی «ایران چیست؟» پاسخِ دقیق‌تری دهیم. این اپیزود اول مجموعۀ تاریخ ایران است که در آن بر اساس پیشگفتاری که دکتر محمود جعفری دهقی و دکتر حسن رضایی باغ‌بیدی بر جلد اول مجموعۀ تاریخ جامع ایران نوشته‌اند نگاهی گذرا کرده‌ایم به تاریخ ایران در دوران پیش‌آریایی‌ها، آریایی‌ها، مادها و هخامنشیان؛ یعنی دوره‌ای که در فصل اول مجموعۀ تاریخ ایران آن را به صورت مفصل مرور خواهیم کرد.
