آقای امینی که حدود ۶۰ سال سن دارد، تاکنون دو بار بازداشت شده است؛ بار نخست در جریان اعتراضات سراسری سال ۱۴۰۱ و بار دوم حدود پنج ماه پیش. به گفته نزدیکان وی، اتهاماتی که علیه او مطرح شده جنبه‌ای سیاسی و عقیدتی دارد و فاقد مستندات واقعی است.
در کیفرخواست صادرشده علیه این روحانی، اتهاماتی همچون «توهین به اهل بیت پیامبر»، «تشویش اذهان عمومی» و «تبلیغ علیه نظام» ذکر شده است. اما حامیان او این اتهامات را ساخته و پرداخته نهادهای امنیتی دانسته و تأکید می‌کنند ماموستا امینی هرگز مرتکب چنین اقداماتی نشده است.
