کاوشگر خصوصی Blue Ghost که توسط شرکت Firefly Aerospace ساخته شده، اولین ویدیوهای باکیفیت از غروب خورشید روی ماه را ثبت کرد! این کاوشگر در ۲۵ دی ۱۴۰۳ توسط موشک فالکون ۹ اسپیس ایکس پرتاب شد، در ۱۲ اسفند ۱۴۰۳ در منطقه Mare Crisium بر سطح ماه فرود آمد و به مدت ۱۴ روز زمینی به جمع‌آوری داده‌های علمی پرداخت.
یکی از آزمایش‌های مهم، اندازه‌گیری دما و جریان حرارتی سطح زیرین ماه بود که می‌تواند در مأموریت‌های آینده به کار رود.
همچنین، دستگاهی به نام Lunar PlanetVac خاک ماه را جمع‌آوری و پردازش کرد، روشی که در سفرهای بازگشت نمونه از ماه و مریخ هم مفید خواهد بود.
این کاوشگر برای زنده ماندن در سرمای شدید شب در ماه طراحی نشده بود.
با غروب خورشید در ۲۶ اسفند ۱۴۰۳، دمای محیط به منفی ۱۸۰ درجه سانتی‌گراد کاهش یافت و Blue Ghost خاموش شد.
اما تیم Firefly همچنان امیدوار است که شاید در اوایل فروردین ۱۴۰۴ و با طلوع دوباره خورشید، امکان برقراری ارتباط مجدد با آن فراهم شود.
