В Африке наибольшая доля населения без интернета зафиксирована в Эфиопии – 81%, в Уганде – 73%, а в Демократической Республике Конго – 71%. В Танзании, Нигерии и Бангладеш около 55% населения также не подключены к сети.
Основные причины такого разрыва – недостаток инфраструктуры, высокая стоимость подключения и бедность, особенно в сельской местности.
