Глава МИД России Сергей Лавров заявил, что Россия расценит факт появления у Украины истребителей F-16 как угрозу в ядерной сфере со стороны Запада.
Россия проинформировала США, Великобританию и Францию, что она «не может игнорировать способность этих самолетов нести ядерное оружие»:
«Никакие заверения тут не помогут. В ходе боевых действий наши военные не будут разбираться, оборудован ли каждый конкретный самолет указанного типа под доставку ядерных вооружений или нет. Сам факт появления подобных систем у Вооруженных сил Украины будет рассматриваться нами как угроза со стороны Запада в ядерной сфере».

Putin added that discussions were happening "almost on a daily basis."
