Узнав о пропаже женщин в районе имени Лазо еще 17 июня, спасатели выдвинулись на подмогу вместе с полицейскими. Они изучили каждый закуток лесополосы у поселка Мухен, пытались успешно окликнуть потерявшихся и сигналили аварийным авто, лишь бы потерявшиеся услышали. Группа начала волноваться, когда во время поисков нашла медвежьи следы поверх свежих отпечатков женской обуви.

Однако, пройдя 8-мь километров через валежник, подлесок и болото, обнаружили ослабленных дам и вернули домой. Оказалось, что у одной хабаровчанки обострились боли в ноге и пояснице, и ее пришлось нести на спине два километра.
