Ранее в этом месте находилось водопропускное сооружение — сифон диаметром 400 мм, который использовался для сброса воды из Цны в старицу для поддержания её полноводности. Однако в 90-е годы это сооружение было разрушено, а трубу неизвестные сдали в металлолом.
В декабре 2024 года в районе Лыжного стадиона было выявлено новое водопропускное сооружение. Здесь устроили трубу гораздо меньшего диаметра, которая, по мнению некоторых специалистов, не совсем способна выполнять необходимые функции.
