Латвия с 19 марта ограничила пешее и велосипедное движение в своем единственном функционирующем пункте пропуска на границе с Беларусью — Патерниеки.
Согласно статистике, на велосипедах из Беларуси в Латвию в Патерниеках (Григоровщина) ежемесячно в зависимости от поры года проезжало от 500 до 1500 человек.
В феврале по этому маршруту в Евросоюз проследовало 453 человека. Из них 85% — граждане Беларуси и Латвии. Россияне составили около 5%, молдаване — 3%, литовцы — 2%. Оставшиеся 5% человек — граждане стран ЕС и СНГ.
Таким образом, введенный запрет в первую очередь коснулся латвийцев и белорусов, проживающих в приграничье, а также людей, выезжавших за рубеж на работу.

On February 27th, Durov posted that Channels were becoming a source of unverified information and that the company lacks the ability to check on their veracity. VK is Russia’s equivalent of Facebook, a social network used for public and private messaging, audio and video sharing as well as online gaming. In January, SimpleWeb reported that VK was Russia’s fourth most-visited website, after Yandex, YouTube and Google’s Russian-language homepage. In 2016, Forbes’ Michael Solomon described Pavel Durov (pictured, below) as the “Mark Zuckerberg of Russia.” Russian President Vladimir Putin launched Russia's invasion of Ukraine in the early-morning hours of February 24, targeting several key cities with military strikes. "Someone posing as a Ukrainian citizen just joins the chat and starts spreading misinformation, or gathers data, like the location of shelters," Tsekhanovska said, noting how false messages have urged Ukrainians to turn off their phones at a specific time of night, citing cybersafety.
