Одна из наиболее старых церквей в Тульской области, значительно перестроенная в начале 1860-х годов, дошла до наших дней в руинированном состоянии: в 1930-х годах она была закрыта, помещение использовалось под различные нужды. Небрежение привело к обрушению сводов в 2002 году. Однако чудом устояла южная стена четверика с двумя главами.

В начале 2020-х годов проведены работы по консервации церкви.
