«Дань-М» изначально был разработан как реактивная мишень для тренировки и проверки противовоздушной обороны. Однако его переделали в ударный беспилотник. Внешне мишень красная, но в ударном варианте цвет корпуса изменили.

По данным противника, характеристики «Дань-М» следующие: время полёта составляет 25–40 минут, скорость — от 400 до 750 км/ч, а высота полёта может достигать 9 км.
