В последние дни появились сообщения о наблюдении стратосферных (перламутровых) облаков в небе над Карелией и Ленинградской областью. Формированию этих облаков способствует смещение в сторону Скандинавии очага стратосферного холода в центральной части зимнего циркумполярного вихря.

Стратосферные облака лучше всего наблюдать во время гражданских сумерек, когда Солнце погружено под линию горизонта на угловое расстояние не более 6°.
