New Jerusalem Monastery in Istra! 3️⃣

Not just an ordinary monastery! Founded in 1656, it was an ambitious project by Patriarch Nikon, designed as a precise replica of the holy sites of Palestine 🤔

Patriarch Nikon, inspired by his pilgrimage to the Holy Land, conceived the idea of recreating sacred sites near Moscow. A picturesque location was chosen - a hilly area by the river, strikingly similar to the landscape of Jerusalem itself. The Istra River was renamed the Jordan, and the surrounding hills were given biblical names: Zion, Tabor, and the Mount of Olives.

The centerpiece of the monastery is the Resurrection Cathedral, built to mirror the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem. Architects meticulously reproduced all key elements:
1) The Edicule (the chapel over Christ's Tomb);
2) The Stone of Anointing;
3) The site of the Discovery of the True Cross;
4) Golgotha;

The scale of the structure was even enlarged to emphasize the significance of this Russian version of the holy site.

In 1941 Germans blew up the cathedral, restoration work lasted for decades and was only fully completed in 2016. Today the place is once again an active monastery and a place of pilgrimage 🥰

"He has kind of an old-school cyber-libertarian world view where technology is there to set you free," Maréchal said. Investors took profits on Friday while they could ahead of the weekend, explained Tom Essaye, founder of Sevens Report Research. Saturday and Sunday could easily bring unfortunate news on the war front—and traders would rather be able to sell any recent winnings at Friday’s earlier prices than wait for a potentially lower price at Monday’s open. At the start of 2018, the company attempted to launch an Initial Coin Offering (ICO) which would enable it to enable payments (and earn the cash that comes from doing so). The initial signals were promising, especially given Telegram’s user base is already fairly crypto-savvy. It raised an initial tranche of cash – worth more than a billion dollars – to help develop the coin before opening sales to the public. Unfortunately, third-party sales of coins bought in those initial fundraising rounds raised the ire of the SEC, which brought the hammer down on the whole operation. In 2020, officials ordered Telegram to pay a fine of $18.5 million and hand back much of the cash that it had raised. He adds: "Telegram has become my primary news source." Now safely in France with his spouse and three of his children, Kliuchnikov scrolls through Telegram to learn about the devastation happening in his home country.
