В Нижегородском Политехе есть знаменитая кафедра ГИС (Графические Информационные Системы) в ИРИТ, где готовят высококлассных специалистов отрасли. Сейчас на кафедре обучаются порядка 250 будущих специалистов под руководством заместителя директора института Александра Филинских.
