شمایل‌نگاری ارتدوکس (Iconography) هنری است که از دل سنت الهیاتی شرقی مسیحی برخاسته و هدف آن نه صرفاً تصویرسازی، بلکه تجلی حقیقتی فراتر از محسوسات است. شمایل‌های ارتدوکس به عنوان نقاشی شناخته نمیشوند، بلکه نوشته‌هایی بصری هستند و کارکرد عبادی دارند. در جلسه پیش‌رو، در باب چیستی شمایل نگاری ارتدوکس و ارتباط آن با فانتزی صحبت خواهد شد.

Given the pro-privacy stance of the platform, it’s taken as a given that it’ll be used for a number of reasons, not all of them good. And Telegram has been attached to a fair few scandals related to terrorism, sexual exploitation and crime. Back in 2015, Vox described Telegram as “ISIS’ app of choice,” saying that the platform’s real use is the ability to use channels to distribute material to large groups at once. Telegram has acted to remove public channels affiliated with terrorism, but Pavel Durov reiterated that he had no business snooping on private conversations. Individual messages can be fully encrypted. But the user has to turn on that function. It's not automatic, as it is on Signal and WhatsApp. Meanwhile, a completely redesigned attachment menu appears when sending multiple photos or vides. Users can tap "X selected" (X being the number of items) at the top of the panel to preview how the album will look in the chat when it's sent, as well as rearrange or remove selected media. Groups are also not fully encrypted, end-to-end. This includes private groups. Private groups cannot be seen by other Telegram users, but Telegram itself can see the groups and all of the communications that you have in them. All of the same risks and warnings about channels can be applied to groups. Asked about its stance on disinformation, Telegram spokesperson Remi Vaughn told AFP: "As noted by our CEO, the sheer volume of information being shared on channels makes it extremely difficult to verify, so it's important that users double-check what they read."
