Парашют подхода выпускался ещё при заходе на посадку и был нужен из-за плохой приёмистости двигателей "стратоджета", так что просто быстро увеличить тягу для ухода на второй круг, при необходимости, не получалось. Вот и пришли к такому решению, когда вместо резкого увеличения тяги уменьшали сопротивление, отцепляя парашют подхода.
