امام صادق صلوات الله علیه فرمودند: «وقتی که #آمنه بنت وهب را درد زایمان گرفت و خواست پیامبر را به دنیا آورد، فاطمه بنت اسد همسر ابوطالب نزد او بود تا وضع حمل نمود، یکی از ایشان به دیگری گفت: می‌بینی آنچه را من می‌بینم؟ گفت: چه می‌بینی؟ گفت: ابن نور تابانی که میان مشرق و مغرب را فرا گرفته! در این سخن بودند که حضرت ابوطالب علیه السلام وارد شد و به ایشان فرمود: از چه چیز تعجب می‌کنید؟ فاطمه بنت اسد جریان آن نور را به وی گفت. ابوطالب علیه السلام به وی فرمود: آیا به تو مژده بدهم؟ گفت: آری. فرمود: آگاه باش به زودی تو پسری می‌زایی که وصی این مولود خواهد بود.»

The message was not authentic, with the real Zelenskiy soon denying the claim on his official Telegram channel, but the incident highlighted a major problem: disinformation quickly spreads unchecked on the encrypted app. In the United States, Telegram's lower public profile has helped it mostly avoid high level scrutiny from Congress, but it has not gone unnoticed. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said in a video message on Tuesday that Ukrainian forces "destroy the invaders wherever we can." Telegram has become more interventionist over time, and has steadily increased its efforts to shut down these accounts. But this has also meant that the company has also engaged with lawmakers more generally, although it maintains that it doesn’t do so willingly. For instance, in September 2021, Telegram reportedly blocked a chat bot in support of (Putin critic) Alexei Navalny during Russia’s most recent parliamentary elections. Pavel Durov was quoted at the time saying that the company was obliged to follow a “legitimate” law of the land. He added that as Apple and Google both follow the law, to violate it would give both platforms a reason to boot the messenger from its stores. Telegram, which does little policing of its content, has also became a hub for Russian propaganda and misinformation. Many pro-Kremlin channels have become popular, alongside accounts of journalists and other independent observers.
