Hauptgrund für den Preisschub sind die teuren Rohstoffe wie Kakao und Zucker. Im Jahresdurchschnitt 2024 waren die Erzeugerpreise von Zucker mit +110,7% mehr als doppelt so hoch wie 2020, allerdings gab es im Herbst 2024 deutliche Preisrückgänge. So lagen die Erzeugerpreise von Zucker im Juni 2025 um 40,2% unter dem Niveau des Vorjahresmonats.
