Сегодня — храм с историей более 900 лет, построенный викингами. Речь про ставкирку (тип деревянных средневековых храмов) в Боргунде (провинция Согн-ог-Фьюране, Норвегия), его возвели примерно в 1150-1180 гг. Основной состав — ясень как яркий символ из германо-скандинавской мифологии.

Количество деталей, из которых состоит церковь, превышает 2000, здесь есть, например, скульптурные изображения драконов, змеиных голов и рунических оберегов.

Ставкирка почернела из-за консервации смоляными составами еще в ХХ веке, но, кажется, это добавило ей ещё больше загадочности и своеобразной фантастичности)
